Gail HughleyGail Hughley has been named Director of Development for The University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health.

As Director of Development, Ms. Hughley will manage and direct all advancement and development activities in support of the UA Zuckerman College of Public Health. In this capacity, she will work with the dean of the college and the UA Foundation vice president for Arizona health sciences development.

“The mission of the UA Zuckerman College of Public Health deeply resonates with my personal values,” said Ms. Hughley. “I am delighted for the opportunity to help optimize its fundraising and philanthropic activities.”

In addition to family counseling and support for families of severely disabled children, Ms. Hughley’s efforts with Oregon’s Multnomah County Educational Service District advanced the district’s funding, grants and development of educational services for the most profoundly disabled students.  She also worked as an adjunct faculty member for PSU’s Graduate School of Social Work and as a field instructor for graduate student interns.  Ms. Hughley also served as chair of the local Inter-Agency Coordinating Council, a state-mandated council on special education.

Ms. Hughley’s earlier career in the corporate sector involved casualty management and litigation prevention in the rail transportation industry.   While working in casualty management for the railroad industry, Ms. Hughley developed a desire to help mitigate the environmental and health impact of industrial development on communities and individuals while managing necessary economic growth.
