The UA Zuckerman College of Public Health offers two master's degree programs:
Master of Public Health (MPH)
The Master of Public Health degree is designed to be an interdisciplinary, graduate, professional degree in public health. The MPH Program provides opportunities for students to obtain broad knowledge and basic skills in the core areas of public health. Students are able to acquire proficiency in one or more specialized areas through advanced coursework, and gain experience in applying advanced knowledge to the solution of actual health problems in community settings during internship training.
The MPH offers a program in which students acquire a sound academic background for competent practice in the field of public health. Students are able to obtain the MPH degree through one of six concentration areas, including:
Master of Science (MS) in Epidemiology
The Master of Science degree in Epidemiology is designed for individuals who seek training in epidemiological research. It is anticipated that graduates will occupy positions as research administrators, program managers, analysts, and evaluators in universities, health departments, governmental agencies, and similar organizations. The MS program typically requires two years for completion. The first year is focused on core course work and completion of the qualifying examination. The second year is focused on remaining coursework and development of the master’s thesis research.
