Volunteer Opportunities for Students
Home>Student Resources>Volunteer Opportunities

From time to time, organizations will ask UA Zuckerman College of Public Health students for volunteer assistance with ongoing projects and event facilitation. These volunteer opportunities are listed below.  To advertise a volunteer opportunity, please contact Kathy Ott at ottL@email.arizona.edu.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tucuson

We ask our volunteers to commit to seeing their assigned “Little” twice per month for several hours each time at the minimum.  Many matches meet on a weekly basis.  We currently have a waitlist of over 350 children and we are very active in recruiting volunteers from the University of Arizona.  If you would like to volunteer, please contact Jody Oehler at jody@tucsonbigs.org.

Arizona Skin Cancer Institute (ASCI)
The Arizona Skin Cancer Institute (ASCI) is a division of the UA Arizona Cancer Center. The mission of the Cancer Center is To Prevent and Cure Cancer. The ASCI unites the Arizona Cancer Center’s many skin cancer prevention activities into one coordinated group. The ASCI brings together innovative research, visionary clinical care, life-changing education and outreach under one roof. The aims of the ASCI are to: increase public knowledge and behavior change about sun safety and skin cancer detection; increase knowledge of the origins, prevention and treatment of skin cancer; improve access to consolidated and enhanced dermatology clinic resources; and provide enhanced education and training for skin cancer patients, high-risk individuals, students, and providers.

ASCI members are located in Tucson and Scottsdale. To meet our mission we have a variety of projects for which students may offer assistance. These projects are available for all ranges of experience and education level, from undergraduates to doctoral students. Further descriptions of the projects are found here.
