Inside Public Health
MONTHLY NEWSLETTER | DECEMBER 2022 |
|
Dear Friends of the College,
At last, the level of activity for the college is starting to slow down as we reach the end of the semester and the winter holiday season. As you know, COVID is still in circulation, and cases of the flu and RSV are alarmingly high, so I urge everyone to stay healthy and safe during the winter break!
Congratulations to all our students who will be graduating at our December 2022 Convocation on Saturday, December 17. As Dean of MEZCOPH, I’m very proud of all our students. Each of you has worked hard to earn the degree you have achieved, and I commend your effort. I wish you every success as you go forward into the world, with passion and dedication, to face the public health challenges of today and tomorrow.
November Was Full of Public Health Events
November was packed with events! It all started with our participation in the American Public Health Association (APHA) annual meeting in Boston, MA. Shortly after we returned, we hosted our Community Town Hall, focused on homelessness, in collaboration with Arizona Town Hall. Later in the month our
faculty participated in a range of climate change focused events and workshops to collaborate on climate-driven health risks, from Egypt to India.
2022 Annual Report Published!
I’m very pleased to announce that our 2022 Annual Report for the Zuckerman College of Public health has been published, both in print and digitally. We accomplished so much this year as the university, and the nation, left the worst of the COVID pandemic behind us. Thanks to all our students, staff, faculty, alumni and supporters who work tirelessly to promote our public health mission, from education to research to service! I hope you’ll explore our Annual Report and learn about our progress and determination to meet emerging public health challenges.
Faculty, Staff, and Students: Honors, Profiles, and Awards
We are very proud of all that our students, staff, and faculty accomplish and appreciate the recognition that comes their way.

Gratitude for Our Community
I thank all of you for your ongoing support of the College and our public health mission. We live in troubling times, and so often public health offers solutions to the widespread suffering in this world. As we reach the end of the fall semester, I look forward to working with you to support our diverse communities, both locally and globally, with the best public health education, service, and research.
Best Wishes for your Health and Safety,
Iman |
