Arizona Rural Health Association graphicThe annual Arizona Rural and Public Health Policy Forum will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Arizona State Capitol in Phoenix, Arizona. Designed for those working in the field of rural public health, this educational event will help you:

  • Examine key rural and public health policy issues relevant to Arizona's tribal and rural communities
  • Help you gain perspectives from state government leaders on health care
  • Identify strategies to strengthen rural and public health systems
  • Learn more about the role and impact of county officials on health care, and
  • Help you learn useful tips on how to communicate with elected officials.

The $45.00 registration fee includes a continental breakfast, lunch, and handouts. 

The forum is sponsored by the MEZCOPH Rural Health Office, the Arizona Rural Health Association, and the Arizona Public Health Association.

Below are some of the topics to be discussed at the forum sessions:

  • Advocacy Organizations Panel: Our Contributions to Strengthening Rural and Public Health Infrastructure
  • How to Work with Elected Officials
  • Meet and Greet Your State Legislator:  “How Well Do You Know Your State Legislator?”  Note: We extended forum invitation to all state legislators but we cannot guarantee that all legislators will attend.
  • Perspectives from our State Government Leaders:  the Arizona Governor’s Office, ADHS, ADES, GITA, AHCCCS, and ADEQ:  USDA Arizona Rural Development
