The 2008 Epidemiology in Arizona forum will take place on Friday, March 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the University of Arizona's Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health (MEZCOPH). This forum is designed:
- To promote the exchange of information between Epidemiology students and MEZCOPH faculty, and other public health professionals.
- To foster collaboration between Epidemiology students, faculty, and public health professionals.
This year the event is being broadened into an exciting one-day forum to include both lectures and posters from students, researchers and public health professionals from many areas of epidemiology. Cash prizes will be awarded for best graduate ($100) and undergraduate ($50) student posters (and students can get their posters printed for free—see Poster Information below). We would love to have your participation in the poster forum as well as at the talks. Please mark your calendars for this event! View the 2008 Epidemiology in Arizona Forum Agenda. There is no registration fee.
Please RSVP to Kathy Ott at ottl@email.arizona.edu or (520) 626-2112 no later than February 29th if you plan to attend. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to help with the event, please contact Beth Jacobs, PhD (jacobse@email.arizona.edu) or Kristen Pogreba-Brown, MPH (kpogreba@email.arizona.edu).
Abstract Information
We invite you to submit an abstract based on current research or projects for the poster session. Posters that have been presented at other conferences are welcome. However, you must submit an abstract in order to present your poster.
The deadline for abstract submission is February 29, 2008. Submit abstract here.
Poster Information
The poster session will be held at the Walkway of Wellness (under the glass bridge) at Drachman Hall. You may hang your poster between 9:15 and 10am and must remove it by 4pm. Posters not removed will be discarded. Presenters are expected to stand by their posters from 10:00AM to 11:20AM.
Posters should be no larger than 4’ tall by 8’ wide. Pins for hanging posters will be provided.
This forum will be modeled after poster sessions in professional conferences. Such organization provides students with experience of graphic presentation in a poster format, restricted presentation space, and unanticipated questions from viewers. Student contributors should start preparing early. Examine the abstract form. Start working on your abstract. Your advisor or another faculty member involved in your project can coach you on poster content. Additional poster creation resources are below.
Students can get their posters printed for free! Please see Kathy Ott in the Office of
Students Services to have yours printed. You should allow at least one week for printing.
