    Hometown:

    Tucson, Arizona

    Prior Degree(s):

    BS Public Health, Minor in French – University of Arizona

    Before entering the program:

    I was working in the public health field! I spent time at the fourth largest public health jurisdiction in the country, and at an internationally recognized non-profit organization with a lifesaving mission.

    Why did you choose public health?

    Everything is public health, and I love the interdisciplinary nature of the field. Regardless of your passions, public health allows you to view problems and solutions from a systems approach.

    Why did you choose MEZCOPH?

    My undergraduate experience at MEZCOPH was transformative. I value the opportunity to apply and integrate our skills within the field of public health, as well as the College’s impact on our local community and beyond. The new MPH program in One Health is the first of its kind, and has allowed me to fully explore the intersection between climate change and human health.

    Public health interests:

    Environmental Health, Preparedness and Response, Climate Change, Environmental Justice, Infectious Disease Epidemiology

    Internship:

    Arizona Department of Health Services - Office of Environmental Health. I am helping to define climate and health indicators to be included on the State’s Environmental Public Health Tracking portal.

    Interests/hobbies outside of school:

    Traveling, hiking, camping, and leading a local women’s circle

    Tip for future students:

    Make meaningful connections with your peers early on in your program! The friends I’ve made at MEZCOPH have become my strongest support system.
