    Prior Degree(s):

    Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology with a concentration in Neurobiology and Philosophy of Mind from Stanford University

    Before entering the program:

    I had a dream of making latte art and found my passions as a barista. While I was working part-time I was taking Non-Degree Seeking courses that allowed me to ease into the MPH program. During the height of the pandemic, I felt the need to work with my community and helped build a COVID-19 contact tracing program on the Navajo Nation.

    Why did you choose public health?

    There are so many levels to providing care and ensuring the best for patients and clients. Public health is a key part of ensuring that for a community. Growing up I saw the inequity within healthcare and I wanted to make an effective change for my community. Public health is an avenue I can take to fulfill that goal.

    Why did you choose MEZCOPH?

    When deciding between schools, I knew I wanted to stay closer to home and remain in Arizona. I met with a few coordinators before I actually applied, and I fell in love when I was taking my non-degree seeking courses. I loved the amount of support I received from my professors, advisors, and coordinators. I felt like I belonged and really enjoyed the aspect of having an online option for my degree program.

    Public health interests:

    Behavioral Health, Disease Prevention, Health Promotion, Native American Health, Planning and Evaluation, Public Health and Emergency Preparedness, Public Health Policy

    Internship:

    I am working with Diné College Public Health to create a culturally inclusive Community Health Worker curriculum. The goal is to inspire students and provide pathways into different health professions

    Interests/hobbies outside of school:

    I could spend hours and hours at coffee shops and reading books. I love exploring new places and traveling with friends. I also love playing with makeup, going to the gym, and creating new content for my travel blog.

    Tip for future students:

    When studying or doing homework always have three liquids in front of you: water, coffee, and something sweet. Coffee to jumpstart your session, water so you don't get a headache, and something sweet so you know you have something to work towards.
