Prior Degree(s):BA in International Studies – Global Security (University of Wisconsin – Madison), MA in English as a Second Language (University of Minnesota – Twin Cities)
Before entering the program:I was teaching English as a Second Language at ASU. Prior to that, I taught English internationally in Ecuador, Brazil, and Colombia.
Why did you choose public health?I am interested in mental health on a community level. Public health allows me to study psychology through a wider lens.
Why did you choose MEZCOPH?I chose MEZCOPH because of the warm atmosphere of the program, as well as the expertise of the faculty.
Public health interests:mental health promotion, mental health stigma, community based participatory research, occupational health, trauma, psychiatric epidemiology
Thesis:Implicit Theories of Mental Health/Transformative Learning Approaches to Mental Health Promotion
Interests/hobbies outside of school:Kickboxing, yoga, dance, creating writing, public speaking
Tip for future students:Keep your old class notes, especially from Biostats! You never know when you’ll need them.
