    Hometown:

    Victorville, CA

    Prior Degree(s):

    Health Science - Public Health

    Before entering the program:

    Prior to coming back to school I was working for the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health on the COVID Team. I worked with other communicable diseases while there and ended my time as a Fiscal Assistant managing the 200+ person team's budget.

    Why did you choose public health?

    I chose public health because it gives me so much opportunity to look at health from such a diverse perspective and learn from experiences beyond the hospital.

    Why did you choose MEZCOPH?

    I chose MEZCOPH because I felt that I was getting the best community of Public Health professionals by being incorporated into a college that was devoted to our field. I was also excited about some of the specific concentration areas that MEZCOPH offered!

    Public health interests:

    Behavioral Health, Disease Management, Disease Prevention, Global Health, Health Disparities, Health of Women, Children and Families, Health Promotion, Public Health and Emergency Preparedness, Public Health Policy

    Internship:

    My internship is through the Kyah Rayne Foundation (KRF) which is an organization that brings awareness and education to the usage and need for epinephrine in schools. KRF has been working to modify the course now for food handlers as well!

    Interests/hobbies outside of school:

    Swimming, beach volleyball, reading, video games, baking, watching new movies or shows, and being with my friends!

    Tip for future students:

    Be willing to push yourself and be challenged by the work that we do! Not every day will be easy and there will be challenges that feel impossible to overcome but keep pushing and lean on your peers because everyone here is willing to support you!
