Hometown:Akropong/Ghana
Before entering the program:Prior to starting my MPH, I worked as a physician in Ghana, providing both inpatient and outpatient care to patients. Additionally, I was involved in conducting pre-employment medical examinations for workers.
Why did you choose public health?Due to my interest in worker health and safety, I decided to study public health to gain a deeper understanding of the hazards in work environments and the most effective ways to minimize these risks. As a physician, my aim is to assist workers in creating a safe workspace while optimizing their health.
Why did you choose MEZCOPH?I chose MEZCOPH because it was the only school where students reached out to me after my admission. They not only answered all my questions, but also directed me to very helpful scholarship resources that enabled me to secure good funding for my graduate education. This made me feel a sense of belongingness, and I became confident that I would thrive at MEZCOPH with the support that was readily available.
Public health interests:Occupational health, Infection prevention, Environmental Justice
Interests/hobbies outside of school:Sewing, spending time relaxing
Tip for future students:Make good use of the library and librarians. There are very good resources in the library that can help you in your academic journey and the librarians are super helpful. Don't be scared to ask for help; they are always ready to assist and enrich your graduate school experience.
