Allison Sarko

Allison Sarko

MPH, Epidemiology

I chose public health to find out more about various health issues/diseases that affect communities, so that I can help improve the health of an entire community by increasing their knowledge about health issues/diseases and their accessibility to resources.

    Hometown:

    Mesa, AZ

    Prior Degree(s):

    BS in Public Health - Global Health

    Before entering the program:

    I graduated in 2023 with my BS in Public Health with a Global Health emphasis and a minor in Biochemistry from the University of Arizona.

    Why did you choose public health?

    I wanted to learn more about how different health issues/diseases affect communities and how to help prevent them while educating communities on how to prevent them as well.

    Why did you choose MEZCOPH?

    I was already involved with MEZCOPH during my undergrad and I really enjoyed the connections I made with students and faculty. I also appreciate how connected the college is with the Tucson community.

    Public health interests:

    Chronic Disease, Epidemiology, Global Health, Health Promotion, Infectious Disease and One Health

    Interests/hobbies outside of school:

    Reading, working out, watching new shows/movies, and traveling

    Tip for future students:

    It's okay to fail or not do as good as you expect! Failure is a part of learning, and it can help improve how you prepare for things in the future. I have definitely failed or not done as good as I hoped throughout my college career but it was able to help me not make those same mistakes in the future and helped me grow as a person. Reaching out and talking to family, friends, and faculty also help me get through those periods. Everyone wants to see you succeed!
