Southern Arizona Heat Planning Summit

The City of Tucson is joining forces with  the University of Arizona and Pima County Health Department to host the Southern Arizona Heat Planning Summit. If you are working in or around heat or are interested in contributing ideas on heat mitigation and preparedness, you are invited!

This one-day, in-person workshop will bring together different agencies, organizations, and residents to plan and strategize for a warming climate. Speakers include Mayor Regina Romero and MEZCOPH's own, Dr. Mona Arora. By participating, you will help inform the City of Tucson’s future heat mitigation strategy while networking with fellow government stakeholders, emergency managers, health providers, NGOs, community leaders, residents, and elected officials. Additionally, the summit is a pivotal action (CR-2) in the implementation of the City of Tucson’s climate action and adaptation plan, Tucson Resilient Together.

  • If you are advancing heat data or research, heat adaptation or mitigation
  • If you experience extreme heat or work with populations that do including houseless communities, utility underserved, transportation underserved, outdoor or unsheltered workers, and many more
