2012 March of Dimes Certified in Public Health Scholars

Melissa A. Henderson, MPH (Class of 2011), and MPH students Jaclyn Pierson and Hilary Rees from the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health at the University of Arizona, were named 2012 March of Dimes Certified in Public Health Scholars. The scholarships were made possible by a grant from the March of Dimes, which will cover their registration fee for the National Board of Public Health Examiners (NBPHE) 2012 Certified in Public Health Exam.

A total of 13 students and alumni of CEPH-Accredited Schools of Public Health and MPH Programs were selected. All displayed an advanced commitment to Maternal and Child Health. Their dedication to the field was evidenced through their applications as well as their desire to become Certified in Public Health.

Pierson and Rees are MPH students with a concentration in Global Family and Child Health.

Henderson is a Health Care Youth Advocate for the Native American Youth and Family Center in Portland,Oregon where she assists children and families to identify, apply and access Medicaid benefits and other health resources.

Final selection of scholarship recipients was made by members of the Association of Teachers of
Maternal and Child Health.
