Jill Bullock has been appointed coordinator of the Rural Hospital Flexibility Program at the Center for Rural Health. Prior to joining the center, Bullock was coordinator of Logistics & Special Projects for the UA First Things First External Evaluation program at the College of Education. Bullock has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Arizona.
The Center for Rural Health coordinates the state’s Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Program (Flex Program). Congress established the Flex Program through the Balanced Budget Act of 1997 to help address the Medicare reimbursement disparity found between urban and rural hospitals. The Flex Program puts significant effort into designating Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) in each state and also aims to improve access to preventive and emergency health care services for rural populations.
The Center for Rural Health is housed within the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health at the University of Arizona.
