The Zuckerman College of Public Health at the University of Arizona and the Pima County Health Department (PCHD) are pleased to announce the formal renewal of their partnership through a framework called an ‘Academic Health Department’ (AHD) that is designed to enhance public health instruction, practice, research, and workforce development in Pima County.
The college and PCHD signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to continue the AHD partnership that was first formalized in 2019. The PCHD Academic Health Department was the first in Arizona, and there are now four Academic Health Departments around the state. All the AHDs are dedicated to improving public health education, training, research and community health in our state.
Members of the AHD core team from the Zuckerman College of Public Health are: Dr. Paloma Beamer, Interim Associate Dean of Community Engagement and Dr. Katie Careaga, Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator. From the Pima County Health Department: Dr. Theresa Cullen, Director and Liz Abrams, Academic Partnership and Internship/Volunteer Coordinator.
More information about the AHD partnership can be found on our website: publichealth.arizona.edu/outreach/community-engagement-and-outreach/ahd
