Minor in Climate Change and Public Health
Expand your horizon and learn how a minor in Climate Change and Public Health can equip you with vital expertise for a sustainable future.
Climate change is a global emergency that threatens health, social, and economic development of all peoples of the world, and health professionals worldwide are already responding to the harms caused by this unfolding crisis. As with other causes of poor health, climate change disproportionately effects the health of low-income communities and minority populations and contributes to the widening of health and socioeconomic inequities. Given heightened political and economic pressures for action on climate change, there is a growing demand for health professionals trained in climate change as well as climate researchers trained in public health.
The Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health is dedicated to promoting health and wellness of individuals and communities in the southwest and globally with an emphasis on achieving health equity through excellence in research, teaching, and service. A minor in Climate Change and Public Health will provide graduates expertise in climate change and environmental health, with an eye toward sustainable development that promotes healthy, resilient communities as we face the challenges ahead.
Note: Students may apply 6 units toward a BS in Public Health or a BA in Wellness and Health Promotion Practice.
