A delegation of African scientists visited the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health at the University of Arizona to foster international collaboration on Climate Resiliency and Health Security.

A delegation of African scientists visited the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health (MEZCOPH) on June 6, 2023, to cultivate U.S.-Africa Collaboration on Climate Resiliency and Health Security. The delegates visited our campus ahead of the Chapman on Climate and Health for Africa Conference in Washington, DC that brought together scientists and policy makers from across Africa and North America.

Dr. Kacey Ernst coordinated the visit alongside the U.S. Department of State to welcome the delegation to our campus. Dr. Ernst was supported by the Global Health Institute team and MEZCOPH faculty including Drs. John Ehiri, Zhao Chen, Gabriela Valdez, and Yevheniia Varyvoda.

Drs. Corrie Hannah and Zack Guido from the Arizona Institute of Resilience (AIR) and Dr. Julia Davies from the Climate Adaptation Research Program (CARP) also joined the discussions. The delegates from Africa represented universities, Ministries of Health and/or research centers from Bostwana, Cote d’Ivoire, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
