Alan Bergen holds a Master of Arts degree summa cum laude in Communications from the University of Arizona, where he also received his Bachelor of Arts degree summa cum laude in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Communications, General Business, and Spanish. Prior to joining the University of Arizona, he spent 10 years as a Senior Program Manager for the Pima County Health Department, where he was responsible for the management, coordination, and implementation of department-wide performance improvement efforts that included public health accreditation, strategic planning, performance management, quality improvement, community health assessment, and community partnership development. Alan Bergen has over 25 years of experience in strategic and program planning, performance management, quality improvement, and accreditation in governmental, non-governmental, and academic institutions.


Alan Bergen joined the University of Arizona in November 2021. He currently serves as the Director of Accreditation in the Office of Curricular Affairs in the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health. Alan Bergen manages and supports college and program-level accreditation efforts, utilizes assessment and evaluation data to support continuous quality improvement initiatives and further compliance with accreditation standards, and provides guidance towards strategic planning for the college and its programs.
