Move at your own pace and set your own benchmarks—this is YOUR own journey. Extend charitably toward everyone, it will come back to you tenfold! Clearly distinguish the role of a close friend and that of a colleague, hold onto the relationships that can fulfill both roles. Do not expect mentorship and sound guidance to come from a single person, build your circle of mentors you can rely on in different ways.

Why did you choose public health?

Public health serves as a critical space to facilitate grassroots change that can transform local communities through advocacy, research, and collaboration. I choose public health because it challenges the assimilatory nature of traditional research and embolden populations to take action.

Why did you choose MEZCOPH?

I choose MEZCOPH because I have agency to explore various contemporary public health issues that spark my interest. Faculty and staff at MEZCOPH prioritize the wellbeing of their students and give adequate guidance while challenging students to deviate outside of their comfort zones. The mentorship I have received so far has been invaluable and I plan to carry it with me after I graduate.

My Public Health Interests are:

My research interests are rural health, substance use, health communication, and harm reduction.

Interests/hobbies outside of school:

Love live music, especially the local punk scene. Otherwise, I am very much a homebody that only spends time with their cat.
