Dr. Cecilia Rosales Honored for Border Health Service and Research

Dr. Cecilia Rosales

Cecilia Rosales, MD, MS, director of Phoenix Programs and an associate professor at the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health-Phoenix Campus, is the recipient of the Latino Excellence in Health & Sciences Award from Valle del Sol, the largest nonprofit, community-based health organization in Arizona.

Dr. Rosales was nominated for her 20 years of service to improve the health welfare of the Latino community along the U.S.-Mexico border. In tackling health issues on both sides of the border, she has worked to track infectious disease; assess, control and prevent diabetes; study the challenges to farm worker health; and coordinate the treatment of patients with tuberculosis who migrate between the two countries.

Prior to joining the UA College of Public Health in 2005, Dr. Rosales was chief of the Arizona Department of Health Services Office of Border Health.

Dr. Rosales will be honored at the Annual Profiles of Success Hispanic Leadership Awards Celebration on September 6, 2013 at the Phoenix Convention Center.
