Mayor of Fortaleza, Brazil and UA Alumnus to Speak at College of Public Health

Roberto Cláudio Rodrigues Bezerra, PhD, MPH, Mayor of Fortaleza, Brazil, will speak at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health on Friday, June 5 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Drachman Hall, Room A114. The title of his talk is “Public Health Systems in a Major Brazilian Urban Center”.

Dr. Cláudio was elected President of the Legislative Assembly and served between 2011-2013. Prior to his appointment in the Legislative Assembly, Dr. Cláudio served as State Representative in 2006 and 2010.

Dr. Cláudio is a medical health officer with the Federal University of Ceará (UFC). As a public health professional, his focus is planning and evaluation of public health policies, including the ‘Family Health Program,’ a Brazilian federal health program. He received his master’s and doctoral degrees in Public Health from the University of Arizona.
