Registration is open for the Healthy 2B Me summer camp program for children ages 7-10 during the months of June and July. Now celebrating its 7th year, the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health wellness camp combines physical fitness and fun interactive activities with a unique public health message.

Parents have a choice between two sessions, June 10-14 and July 8-12. The camp hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Las Abuelita Community Center (440 E. 26th St., Tucson, AZ).

The week-long day camp exposes kids to all the summer fun activities they love like swimming, yoga, and Zumba, plus team building exercises, cooking demonstrations, and art activities, while learning about sun safety, dental hygiene, tobacco prevention, nutrition, germ safety, and more!

The lessons will be taught by experts from the UA College of Public Health, the UA Canyon Ranch Center for Prevention and Health Promotion, and members of the Tucson community.

“The idea behind Healthy 2B Me is to instill healthy behaviors in young children,” said Cynthia Thomson, PhD, RD, director of the program and a professor in the UA Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health. “Our summer camp allows kids to spend a week indulging in all these wonderful healthy behaviors that we hope will last them a lifetime.”

The cost is $300.00 and includes a healthy lunch. Scholarships are available with support from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Arizona.
