Esteemed colleagues Joy Caron and Jing Liu celebrated at retirement event
Colleagues, friends, and family gathered to celebrate the outstanding contributions of two key staff leaders from the college, Joy Caron, the longtime manager of personnel affairs for human resources, and Jing Liu, the senior assistant dean for finance and administration, who are both retiring and gave so much to the college in their respective roles.
Colleagues, friends, and family gathered on April 16, 2025, to celebrate the outstanding contributions of two key staff leaders from the college, Joy Caron, MA, the longtime manager of personnel affairs for human resources, and Jing Liu, CPA, MAcc, the senior assistant dean for finance and administration, who are retiring. Both Joy and Jing gave so much to the college in their respective roles. Joy worked with the College of Public Health for 9 years, and with the University of Arizona for 36 years. Jing dedicated 7 years to the college, and worked for the university for 21 years.
At the afternoon tribute event, colleagues shared stories and appreciation for Jing and Joy and all the ways they supported the college. There were many happy memories exchanged, and both of them will be missed by all of us in the college!

Dean Hakim expressed gratitude for Joy’s steadfast guidance and support in all matters related to human resources. "Your expertise, professionalism, and steadfast guidance have made a lasting impact on our faculty, staff, and students," she the Dean, "I will personally miss your friendship and your invaluable guidance on all HR-related matters."
Appreciation for Jing Liu
Dean Hakim praised Jing for her exceptional leadership and strategic expertise at the college, "Your strategic insights and commitment to excellence have strengthened our foundation, ensuring the continued growth and stability of our college." She also spoke of Jing’s kindness and collaborative spirit, emphasizing that, "MEZCOPH is more than just a workplace, it is a family. And once you are part of this family, you always will be."
As they embark on their next chapters, Joy and Jing leave behind a legacy of excellence, kindness, and dedication. Congratulations, Joy and Jing! You will always be a cherished part of the MEZCOPH family.
