Not only is this a celebratory event for and with MPH students, it will also include a speed-networking portion for increased connections and pitch sharing. MPH students will highlight and use this critical communication skill that will help them articulate their professional identity, build networks, & for this event specifically, highlight their APE/internship work completed.
Why is crafting an effective elevator pitch important?
- Public health professionals frequently need to communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences with limited time.
- Having an effective elevator pitch helps MPH graduates clearly and concisely explain their work, interests, and the value of public health practice. Developing this skill supports effective networking, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the ability to advocate for public health initiatives.
- A few relevant resources to help understand the benefit of elevator pitch preparedness in regard to public health: convincing policymakers, usage in clinical settings, and communicating your expertise.
