Accelerated BS in Medicine & MPH

Students in the BS in Medicine program in the College of Medicine – Tucson now have the opportunity to complete an additional Masters of Public Health (MPH) degree in 5 years. This accelerated program saves students time and money by completing two degree programs, the BS and the MPH, in a shorter timeline of 5 years instead of 6 years.

The BS in Medicine/MPH Accelerated Master’s Program (AMP), beginning in Fall 2026, will provide students interested in creating healthier communities with a path to jumpstart their graduate education and expand their career options. As healthcare continues to evolve, future physicians and health professionals need to understand the population-level factors that shape human health beyond clinical care, and this accelerated double degree program provides that perspective and preparation.

Qualified applicants start on MPH coursework during the last year of their undergraduate degree and continue coursework and an applied practice experience in their post-baccalaureate year.  Students gain knowledge and skills in core public health disciplines (e.g., epidemiology, biostatistics, sociocultural aspects of public health), as well as specialized training in a concentration area (for example applied epidemiology, global health, and health behavior/health promotion).
