MPH in Population Aging and Long-term Care

OFFERED ONline  Accredited Program

As the United States population ages rapidly, with more than 90 million adults over age 65 by 2050, our society will be forced to adjust to meet the health and wellness needs of older adults. Already, expertise in care for aging adults and long-term care programs is in high demand, and the need will continue to grow.

The MPH concentration in Population Aging and Long-term Care will provide students with the knowledge, skills, and perspectives needed to understand the impact of population aging on individuals and society.

The curriculum will comprise courses that respond to, and keep pace with, real-world healthcare programs for older adults. Designed to simultaneously prepare students to address and respond to healthy population aging from a public health perspective, the program will prepare graduates for a variety of careers in the aging industry and increase the number of public health-trained professionals in the aging and long-term care workforce.

The program includes opportunities for hands-on and experiential learning through service-learning with underrepresented older adult populations, practica within LTC facilities, mentorship by long-term care services and support professionals, and opportunities to network with innovators in healthy population aging and LTC.
