Ask and you shall receive! I have gotten all of the opportunities that I have today by asking for them! Don’t be afraid to cold call or cold email people, or ask for an introduction from a professor or faculty. Apply for things you “aren’t qualified for”! You’ll never know what will come of it.

Why did you choose public health?
I chose public health because it combines my passions for medicine, social justice, feminism, community organizing, and education all into one field of study! I believe healthcare and access to health is a human right that should be free and available to everyone. Public health helps accomplish this belief and I think it will be an extremely fulfilling career.
Why did you choose MEZCOPH?
I chose MEZCOPH because of its outstanding faculty and its location in my hometown. Upon researching public health programs, I realized how diverse and accomplished the faculty at MEZCOPH was, and how many of the faculty members had the same research interests as I did. I knew the school had a reputation for being rigorous and producing excellent research and researchers, so I decided to apply!
My Public Health Interests are:
sexual and reproductive health, early childhood development, midwifery, farm worker health, social justice, and labor (both unions and babies)
Interests/hobbies outside of school:
Djing, zine and collage-making, swimming, rollerblading, watching movies, reading non-fiction, and community organizing.
