Public health champion, researcher, and teacher Dr. Karl Krupp passed away and he will be deeply missed by his colleagues and the college community.

Dear Colleagues,

It is with deep sadness that I share the news that our colleague, Dr. Karl Krupp, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2025, after courageously facing a very difficult diagnosis this past year.

Karl first joined our college as a postdoctoral scholar in 2019 and later became a valued member of the Public Health Practice, Policy and Translational Research Department. Beyond his scholarship, Karl was known for his warmth, collegiality, and steadfast dedication to public health. His presence enriched our community, and he will be greatly missed.

At this time, our hearts are especially with his spouse and our dear colleague, Dr. Purnima Madhivanan. College leadership and Karl’s department are working closely to ensure that we honor his memory in accordance with the family’s wishes and offer the support they need. Program directors are also reaching out to graduate students who may be affected by this loss.

Please take care of yourselves and each other as we navigate this difficult moment together. If you feel you need additional support, I encourage you to reach out to Counseling Services at UA Campus Health.

With heartfelt sympathy,
Iman
