Student Affairs Staff for Graduate Students

Welcome to the Office of Student Affairs at the UA Zuckerman College of Public Health! The staff of the Office of Student Affairs is well prepared and ready to assist you in your quest for a public health degree.

Our office provides centralized comprehensive student services for all applicants to and students and alumni of the UA Zuckerman College of Public Health, including preadmission counseling, guidance related to degree requirement deadlines and graduate internship implementation, career advisement, and college-provided financial aid and scholarships.

Most importantly, the Office of Student Affairs exists to help applicants and students pursue their dreams of becoming public health professionals. We look forward to working with you!

Chris Chris Tisch
Interim Assistant Dean for Student Affairs
Directs the activities and staff of OSA. Counsels students and serves as their advocate. Administers student scholarship awards and teaching assistantships. Provides career advisement services. Acts as the advisor to student and alumni groups. Represents MEZCOPH student interests at the college, university, local and national levels.

Administrative Support Assistant
Assistant to the Assistant Dean and manages calendar.  Plans and facilitates academic events, manages locker assignments, facilitates student travel, and tracks alumni.

Graduate Admissions Professional
Manages and reviews graduate admission applications.  Corresponds with applicants regarding admissions decisions.  Works collaboratively with Recruitment Professional.


Tanya Nemec Tanya Nemec, MPH, CHES
Manager, Professional Master's Programs
Advises MPH students regarding course sequencing, Graduate College processes, forms, and deadlines. Assists with course registration and internship processes. Advises MPH Internship Conference Committee. Works with UA offices to resolve student issues.


Kim Barnes Kim Barnes, MPH
Director, Phoenix Student Affairs
Coordinates and supports the administrative, student, faculty, and academic activities of the MPH program in Phoenix. Assists Phoenix students regarding course sequencing, Graduate College processes, forms and deadlines. Manages admissions for Phoenix students.


Samantha Pierce, MPH Samantha Pierce, MPH
Manager, Online MPH Operations and Student Services
Coordinates and supports the administrative, student, faculty, and academic activities of the Online MPH program. Advises Online MPH students regarding College of Public Health courses and internship procedures. Facilitates Online MPH Orientation Course.


Michael Tearne Michael Tearne, MEd
Manager, MS and Doctoral Programs

Advises MS, PhD, and DrPH students regarding College of Public Health and Graduate College policies, procedures, and deadlines. Provides admissions and advising services to those interested in and enrolled in College of Public Health certificate programs.
