The Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health has a long history of service in communities throughout the state, the region, the nation and internationally. This commitment is reflected in the mission of our College:

The Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health is dedicated to promoting the health and wellness of individuals and communities in the southwest and globally with an emphasis on achieving health equity through excellence in education, research & service.

Our commitment is reflected in the organizational structure of our College with the office of our Interim Associate Dean of Community Engagement and Outreach. Our faculty, academic professionals, staff and students are extensively involved in numerous partnerships with communities to improve quality of life.

Our College focuses on ecological approaches that place high value on service to the community and on research and practice conducted in a service context, to foster excellence in public health, community engagement, practice and service. While there are many definitions of service within the field of public health, service within our College is defined as “an activity or project done at the request of, or for the benefit of, a community or organization outside of [the College]; including service based projects, service as a component of research, service through professional organizations, workforce development and continuing education.”
