Why choose the UA / What’s awesome about the UA:MEZCOPH felt like the best decision for me due to the alignment of values that I share with the college. I truly wanted to gravitate my study efforts to be surrounded by innovation, equity, diversity, and commitment which is constantly demonstrated by professors, classes, curriculum, and all efforts within the college.
Why did you choose public health?I chose public health because I was so intrigued by the wide range of disciplines that not only impact healthcare but communities across the world. The field has become a passion as I have seen that through education and collaboration, so many improvements can be made to our society's well-being.
Fun Fact about you (hobbies, trivia, etc.):I am a huge foodie so most of my free time I am trying out new restaurants and spots around town. But to balance that out I also have recently really enjoyed playing tennis, so you might catch me on a court practicing my serve.
One piece of advice for incoming students (transfer and freshmen):One tip I would share for students would be that saying "No" is okay. I know that at times you want to agree with what everyone around you is saying or planning to do but if you disagree or want to say no, it is okay to do so. It will not be the end of the world. Another tip would be to try to get involved with clubs/organizations around campus. It is a great way to meet new people and even to network. But, I would also say that it is not about the quantity of the clubs you are in, but the quality and what you make of it!
