Arizona Housing Coalition: Zoning, Aging & Health Webinar

This webinar from the University of Arizona College of Public Health will explore how zoning laws can make urban communities friendly or unfriendly to seniors, focusing on two aspects that are particularly important to seniors: housing and walkability.  We will discuss zoning related to accessory dwelling units–independent secondary living units on lots zoned as single-family residential–and why ADU zoning is important to seniors.  And we will discuss various zoning provisions that improve or worsen walkability and the impacts.  Throughout the presentation, we will use provisions from Phoenix's zoning code as examples, and we will discuss ideas that could improve the urban environment for the city's growing population of seniors.
