Patrick Wightman is a Research Scientist with the Center for Population Science and Discovery. He earned his PhD in Public Policy from the University of Chicago in 2009. His dissertation examined the effect of parental job loss on children. From 2009 to 2013 he was the MacArthur Foundation Network on Transitions to Adulthood post-doctoral fellow at the University of Michigan. Prior to joining the UA in the fall of 2014, he was a Sr. Economic Analyst with the Oregon Health Authority in Portland, OR.
Dr. Wightman will discuss some of the challenges of population health management within the context of the Healthy Together Care Partnership, an innovative care coordination program run by the University of Arizona Health Plans.
Matthew Butler is the Director of Health Economics with the Center for Population Science and Discovery. He earned his PhD in Economics from the University of California Berkeley in 2011. Prior to joining the UA in the Summer of 2015, he was a Strategic Planner at the University of Utah Health Sciences in Salt Lake City, UT.
Dr. Butler will present results from an ongoing analysis of the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System’s 2010 decision to discontinue adult dental benefits and its impact on subsequent costs and utilization of dental-related care.
