Dan Derksen M.D. completed a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellowship in D.C. in 2008 with U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman. He researched and drafted legislative provisions to improve the supply and distribution of the U.S. health workforce, later included in Title V of the Affordable Care Act.

In 2011 Governor Martinez appointed Dr. Derksen Director, NM Office of Health Care Reform where he established the state’s health insurance exchange with $34 million in CMS funding.

Dr. Derksen will discuss how King vs. Burwell decisions by the Supreme Court could affect health insurance coverage and public health for millions of Americans, and over 200,000 Arizonans.
