Towards sustained growth in diversity of the health research workforce: SDSU FUERTE

Join us for this college wide seminar presented by the Division of Public Health Practice and Translational Research on Wednesday, March 16th at 12noon.

Presented by

María Luisa Zúñiga, PhD
Professor, School of Social Work, San Diego State University (SDSU)
Campus Director, Interdisciplinary Research on Substance Use, SDSU-UCSD Joint Doctoral Program

Diverse scientific perspectives and experiences are critical to scientific progress and development. A cohort cluster hire is one concerted approach to diversify the scientific workforce and support diverse early career faculty towards research independence. This presentation will describe such a cohort and faculty development model under SDSU FUERTE (Faculty Unified Towards Excellence in Research and Transformational Engagement), a new NIH-funded program to diversify the scientific workforce.
