Students from the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health will host the 13th Annual Social Justice Symposium (SJS), Friday, April 5 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Drachman Hall, 1295 N Martin Ave. The theme of the symposium is, “Bridges & Barriers: Migration and Public Health”. The event is free and open to the public.
The keynote speaker is Enrique Morones, founder and director of San Diego-based Border Angels, an organization that advocates for human rights, humane immigration reform, and social justice with a special focus on issues related to the United States-Mexico border. The keynote will begin at 8:00 a.m. in Duval Auditorium at Banner-University of Arizona Medical Center – Tucson, 1501 N. Campbell Ave. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.
SJS Pre-Event: To kick-off the symposium, a free screening of the documentary film Health Undocumented, followed by a panel discussion will be held Thursday, April 4 from 6-9 p.m. at the UA Health Science Innovation Building, 1670 E. Drachman St.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided to those who RSVP.
