Movie Screening: Who is Dayani Cristal?

Movie posterThe student organization LUCHA (Learning, Understanding and Cultivating Health Advocacy invites you to a free screening of the documentary film Who is Dayani Cristal on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 5:30 p.m. in Drachman Hall, Room A114 at the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health. The film provides a comprehensive examination of the complex issue of migration focusing on the Arizona-Sonora border. 

The film tells the story of a migrant who found himself in the deadly stretch of desert known as “the corridor of death” and shows how one life becomes testimony to the tragic results of U.S. immigration policy. As the real-life drama unfolds we see this John Doe, denied an identity at his point of death, become a living and breathing human being with an important life story.

A panel discussion will follow movie with experts providing information about opportunities for community engagement on these issues in Tucson.

LUCHA is a graduate student organization at the UA Zuckerman College of Public Health that connects students to community service opportunities in order to cultivate awareness for border health and human rights issues in the U.S.-Mexico border region.
